Recycling Center Parking Lot Improvements Complete
A well-used area at the Franklin County Recycling Center is now cleaner, safer and easier to navigate in all kinds of weather.
Franklin County recently paved the parking lot shared by the Recycling Center and Noxious Weed Department. The area sees regular traffic throughout the week, including evenings and weekends, and recycling volumes have continued to increase.
Previously, wet and winter weather could leave the gravel parking area muddy and messy, creating difficult conditions for both customers and employees. The new asphalt provides a more stable surface and makes it easier for residents to pull in, unload their recycling and get back on the road.
The project also included a new drainage gutter between the Recycling Center and Noxious Weed areas to help manage water runoff.
Killough Construction completed the project, which was funded through the Solid Waste Special Caps Fund.
