Important Notice - Boyle County Convenience Centers

Boyle County Convenience Centers provide a FREE service to Boyle County residents for normal household waste. Unfortunately, this service is increasingly being abused by individuals bringing in large 12–16 ft. trailers loaded with trash, including loads associated with junk removal and hauling for profit.

Under Boyle County Solid Waste Management Ordinance #830.2, residential use of the convenience centers is limited to no more than one (1) pickup-truck load of trash per household per week. The ordinance also prohibits commercial enterprises, businesses, associations, partnerships, and other commercial users from using the convenience centers. Commercial trash haulers are required to take waste to an approved landfill and pay the appropriate disposal fees.

Effective enforcement of these requirements means:

Large trailer loads of trash that exceed the residential limit will be turned away. This includes 12–16 ft. trailers containing quantities clearly beyond normal household disposal.

  • If you are being paid to haul or remove someone else's trash, you may not use Boyle County's Convenience Centers as a free disposal location.
  • Convenience Center Operators may ask for proof of Boyle County residency before accepting waste.
  • Operators may inspect bags or other materials before they are placed into the compactor to ensure prohibited or illegal materials are not being disposed of.
  • Please do not argue with or harass our operators for enforcing the rules. They are doing their jobs and protecting a service provided for Boyle County residents.

Large loads, commercial/junk-hauling loads, and other waste that exceeds the convenience-center limits should be taken to an appropriate permitted disposal facility, where disposal fees will apply.

Our Convenience Centers are funded to provide Boyle County residents with a convenient way to dispose of their normal household waste at no charge. When the system is used as free disposal for commercial hauling or oversized loads, Boyle County taxpayers ultimately bear that cost.

Please help us protect this free service by using it responsibly.
