ElementUS Advances $800 Million Rare Earth Elements Project In Louisiana

Joint venture would convert residual bauxite from Noranda site in St. James Parish, Louisiana

GRAMERCY, LA, USA, March 8, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards joined DADA Holdings Chairman and CEO David D’Addario and Enervoxa CEO Vandit Verma to announce that ElementUS, a joint venture of DADA and Enervoxa, will make an $800 million capital investment to extract rare earth elements at the Noranda Alumina site in Gramercy, Louisiana, subject to a final investment decision within the next year.

DADA Holdings owns Gramercy-based Noranda Alumina and is partnering with green technology firm Enervoxa to separate rare earth elements and other valuable minerals from alumina byproducts. The Gramercy site has a 35 million dry-ton reserve of mineral-rich residual bauxite. The carbon-neutral project would result in 200 new direct jobs, with an average annual salary of more than $85,000, plus benefits. Louisiana Economic Development estimates an additional 590 new indirect jobs would result, for a total of nearly 800 new jobs in Louisiana’s Southeast Region and surrounding areas.

Today, Noranda Alumina employs more than 400 manufacturing workers at the Gramercy site, which also serves as headquarters for New Day Aluminum, a DADA Holdings company that includes Noranda Alumina; a bauxite subsidiary in Jamaica; affiliated alumina and specialty minerals businesses in Louisiana, France and the U.K; and a ferrous and non-ferrous recycling business with operations in the southeastern United States.

From Noranda’s 3,300-acre St. James Parish site neighboring St. John the Baptist Parish on the Mississippi River, ElementUS will locate near the Noranda Alumina refinery and build a separation and extraction plant with an annual capacity in excess of 1 million tons. The residual bauxite has been confirmed to contain high concentrations of 10 of the 17 rare earth elements targeted by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency, along with titanium, iron and other minerals and metals valuable to U.S. industry and consumer demand. Separation and extraction of the minerals will occur primarily through proprietary residual bauxite processing technology developed by Toronto-based Enervoxa.

In addition to defense applications, rare earth elements provide key performance attributes for a variety of industrial and consumer products, such as batteries, magnets, refining catalysts, aircraft engines, electric vehicles, smartphones, digital cameras, computers, flat-screen TVs, lighting and medical scanning equipment. The ElementUS project would be located within the 54-mile jurisdiction of the Port of South Louisiana, the largest port by tonnage in the Western Hemisphere.

Subject to a final investment decision, the State of Louisiana will offer a $6 million performance-based grant and the comprehensive workforce solutions of LED FastStart® – the nation’s No. 1 state workforce training and talent attraction program. In addition, ElementUS is expected to utilize the state’s Quality Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs.

The number of cans and wrappers recycled in 2020 was also significantly higher than previous years.

To decrease plastic waste, single use plastic items like straws, cups and bags have been replaced with more environmentally friendly alternatives including paper and aluminium for food and beverage related services. The hotel has ceased purchasing many goods packaged in single use plastics with the exception of amenities and bottled mineral water. Management and staff members are currently working on sourcing eco-friendly dispensers for amenities and glass bottles for drinking water.

Cielo Announces Letter of Intent for CDN$10M Convertible Loan for Edmonton Land Purchase and Loan Repayment

RED DEER, ALBERTA, CANADA, March 3, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Cielo Waste Solutions (CSE: CMC), (OTCQB: CWSFF), (CNSX:CMC.CN), (WKN:C36) ("Cielo" or the "Company") is pleased to announce it has entered into a binding letter of intent to obtain from one or more lenders (the “Lender(s”)), a non-interest bearing, unsecured convertible loan of CDN$10 Million (the “Loan”).

The net proceeds of the Loan will be used to purchase a site near Edmonton, Alberta, which will be used for Cielo’s planned 100% owned waste to high grade renewable fuel facility (“Edmonton Facility”). This marks the beginning of Cielo’s expansion plans which is ahead of its previous schedule. Cielo will have the discretion to use the balance of the funds as needed, for working capital purposes, and to repay in whole or in part Cielo’s largest secured lender, which is currently owed approximately CDN$3.8 Million.

The Loan is non-interest bearing and unsecured with a term of 12 months (the “Term”). Cielo will be entitled to repay the Loan at any time during the Term without penalty. During the Term, until maturity or such early repayment, the Lender(s) will be entitled to convert the Loan at CDN$1.02 per share. The Loan is also subject to transaction fees equal to CDN$700,000 and Cielo will also pay a cash commission to a third party equal to CDN$800,000. Cielo believes these fees and commissions are well in line with industry standards and eliminate high interest payments and saves Cielo millions in debt payments without significant dilution of the company shares with an exceptional conversion strike price.

To be able to purchase this land for cash and no mortgage allows Cielo the ability to choose numerous options to raise the $50 million for the construction of this facility and the extra money required to prepare the land. The plant will initially be engineered to produce annually approximately 33 million liters of high-grade renewable diesel which at todays prices is approximately CDN$55 million in annual revenues. The land is large enough to allow for multiple expansions. This Loan will also provide Cielo with the flexibility to assign the balance of the funds as needed, including for working capital. It is our intention to decrease our debt by repaying our largest secured lender in full. On February 23rd, we had our first major sale of renewable diesel and now with Cielo buying the expansion land for cash and ahead of schedule, while clearing up its existing balance sheet, Cielo is having an amazing start to 2021 and is poised to continue strong growth on all fronts.

Financial terms were not disclosed and the acquisition is effective immediately.
