Production to Halt on PS Hot Cup Lids in Favor of PP

PP is more heat resistant than PS, more environmentally friendly, and leaves less of a carbon foot print,””

— Lollicup’s founder and CEO Alan Yu.

CHINO, CALIFORNIA, USA, October 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Chino, Calif., October 31, 2017 – Lollicup® USA Inc. will halt all production on PS (polystyrene) hot cup lids starting the end of this year, and will only produce PP (polypropylene) hot cup lids. This unprecedented decision is based on Lollicup’s move towards producing products that are recyclable, compostable, and more eco-friendly.

“PP is more heat resistant than PS, more environmentally friendly, and leaves less of a carbon foot print,” said Lollicup’s founder and CEO Alan Yu.

This decision could not be timelier, as the world’s largest coffee chain has recently switched their lids from PS to PP, and the PS lids are on the Plastics Ban List. The list was made by four non-profit watch groups, whose influence has made significant changes in the industry already.

The marketplace has seen the ban on expanded polystyrene extend from Seattle, Portland, and select cities in California to Miami, Freeport, and New York. Managers at Lollicup feel it is only a matter of time before more plastic bans will start to be enforced. CEO Alan Yu said, “This will be the trend of the future.”

Generic Drugs Market in India 2017

India Generic Drugs Market

India Generic Drugs Market Research Report

This report provide the Current and future state of the India Generic Drugs Market

RAIPUR, CHHATTISGARH, INDIA, October 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Report Sellers has added a new market research report “Generic Drugs Market in India 2017” to its offerings. The report is an in-depth market study providing accurate market insights including the latest trends, forecast, competitive insights, etc.

Demand for generics is expected to increase as patients shift from the more expensive branded drugs to the lower priced generics. Various initiatives from the government to increase the usage of generics instead of branded drugs, wherever possible, are also helping in the growth of the market. Setting up of a large number of Jan Aushadhi stores is making generics more accessible. Moreover, government’s proposal in Jul 2016 whereby physicians would have to mention generic names of drugs instead of names of branded drugs is expected to further boost the market.

Generic drug manufacturers operating in India have a distinct cost advantage when it comes to manufacturing. The low manufacturing costs in the country enable Indian companies to manufacture generic drugs at costs lower than the cost at which companies operating in regulated markets manufacture. Consequently, this has created a huge export opportunity for Indian companies. The US is one of the largest importers of generic drugs from India. Recently, regulatory warnings from foreign regulatory bodies such as the USFDA regarding lapses in product quality and for not adhering to stipulated manufacturing standards have led to a negative perception of generics manufactured in India. The industry, however, realizes the importance of these export markets and is taking remedial steps to ensure that such negative perceptions are removed.

Leck Waste Services Looks to 3rd Eye Vehicle Data Suite to Deliver Lowest Cost of Ownership to Growing Fleet

3rd Eye, the industry leader in vehicle safety camera and radar solutions, will provide real time information on fleet management, route efficiencies, to asset management and predictive maintenance

IVYLAND, PA (October 25, 2017) — Leck Waste Systems, a prominent waste hauler servicing commercial customers throughout Bucks County, Montgomery County, Northeast Philadelphia and Southern Lehigh County is looking to 3rd Eye and its Enhance Vehicle Behavioral Analytics™ (VBA) to provide next-generational vehicle-based data collection and reporting solutions to drive profit to their bottom line.

3rd Eye Products and Benefits

3rd Eye, the industry leader in vehicle safety camera and radar solutions, has developed technology that digitally interprets chassis and body system inputs and communicates this information in real time – through 3rd Eye’s Hurricane Gateway. In addition, 3rd Eye camera data can also be transmitted through the gateway – allowing Leck to view and report on situational inputs immediately.

A more comprehensive definition of Enhance VBA can be found on 3rd Eye’s website along with their complete suite of safety cameras, radar systems and fleet productivity solutions.

“I believe that moving forward, our fleet would be utilizing Enhanced VBA because it is a necessity more than a luxury,” said Jason Leck Vice President, Leck Waste Services. “Enhance gives us the ability to have an in-depth look of our fleet and allows us to be more profitable against a competitor in a marketplace where there are very little margins.”

Founded in 1971, Leck Waste Systems operates over 35 commercial vehicles ranging from commercial rear loaders and front loaders to roll offs ¬– as well as offering compactor, baler, shredding and portable toilet service.

3rd Eye’s Focus on Fleet Maintenance

“From route efficiencies, to asset management, to predictive maintenance, 3rd Eye’s Enhance VBA allows fleet owners to better manage their fleet, more efficiently facilitate route collection – as well as receive real time feedback from the vehicle regarding predictive diagnostics. This allows us to better schedule fleet maintenance and reduces our asset downtime,” said Darrick Reed, President of 3rd Eye.

“With 3rd Eye’s Enhance VBA, I can respond much faster to service requests as well as validate proof of service in real time. But it also lets me know how the body systems are performing in concert with the chassis. My Operations Manager uses this information to schedule maintenance. It’s like the vehicle is talking to me and telling me how it’s feeling. It’s a game changer,” said Leck.

3rd Eye: helping fleet owners make better decisions to lower total cost of ownership.

Dover’s 3rd Eye was formed in 2001. The company provides real-time Vehicle Function/Route Performance Analytics and also uses state-of-the-art camera systems to capture and document in-cab and external events to improve the safety, reliability and profitability of collection fleet operations. 3rd Eye is committed to ongoing innovation, engineering excellence, and impeccable business ethics. STARBOARD LAUNCHES WORLD’S FIRST PLASTIC OFFSET PROGRAM FOR ITS PLASTIC USE AT PLASTICITY SYDNEY

Plastic Offset Program Scale

Plastic Offset Program Pricing

Offsetting the Boards that Ocean Users Love

Starboard Co. takes the lead in offsetting its impacts of plastic used by creating the first Plastic Offset Program (POP).

We are excited to debut the world’s first Plastic Offset Program (POP), and have created a fund to invest back into projects that remove plastic pollution to reduce our footprint.”

— Svein Rasmussen, Chief Innovator

SYDNEY, NSW, AU, October 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Sydney, Australia – October 30, 2017 Starboard Co. has taken the lead in offsetting the impacts of the plastic used in its business by creating the first Plastic Offset Program (POP) in coordination with the Plastic Disclosure Project and its methodology for measuring a company’s plastic footprint. Based in Bangkok, Thailand, Starboard has created some of the world’s best windsurf and stand up paddle boards since 1994, and is the top choice of champions and beginners around the globe. In their quest to help watersport enthusiasts best enjoy earth’s waters, however, Starboard has participated in a plastic economy that pollutes those waters with toxic plastic materials.

Starboard strives to be part of the solution, however, and not part of the problem. In their quest to lead with solutions, they have joined Ocean Recovery Alliance and their Plastic Disclosure Project (PDP), which helps Starboard to understand its complete plastic use and waste footprint within the communities it serves. Starboard exports its products to over 70 countries, and has now calculated its use of plastics of every variety in boards, accessories, apparel, packaging, and operations for both 2017 and 2018. The methodology of the PDP allows a company to understand and quantify areas where recycled content, increased material recovery, or use of eco-innovation changes can be made in product lines for so that its plastic footprint can be reduced within its operations. Over the past 12 months, Starboard has already replaced over 21.2 % of virgin plastic which would have been used, in favor of recycled plastic, and also reduced overall plastic consumption by 6.5% by using more bio materials.

After calculating their Plastic Footprint, Starboard took the leap to “price” its plastic use by assigning a financial value to the plastic used in production according to three different factors: duration of use, toxicity, and creation of waste. By accounting for these factors with an offset price, the Plastic Offset Program acknowledges the dynamic nature of the problems caused by plastics and further clarifies – and quantifies – the investment necessary to mitigate the impact of plastic used. This pricing scheme also encourages companies like Starboard to rethink and reinvent how they use plastic in an effort to reduce the external cost of the plastics they use. Eliminating plastics from production, or switching to less harmful varieties (and thus with lower offset prices) will lead to a reduced investment in the Plastic Offset Program, incentivizing companies to reengineer and reduce their plastic consumption habits.

“We are excited to debut the world’s first Plastic Offset Program, the POP. We have created a fund based off of plastic use in our products, which we will invest back into projects that protect the ocean – our greatest resource and big blue playground for paddlers and windsurfers worldwide,” says Svein Rasmussen, Chief Innovator at Starboard. This initial fund of at least US$24,000, will be dedicated to “offsetting” its plastic use by removing and recycling ocean plastic. The company has already dedicated significant funds to R&D of natural materials like balsa, which can be a replacement for toxic thermoplastics like PVC, and has supported NGOs with larger funding to reduce plastic pollution impacts in waterways both in Bangkok and world-wide. The POP, NGO support, environmental R&D, and advocating for legislation, all fall under the umbrella of “Plastic Net Positive” – Starboard’s aspirational goal to do more good for the plastic economy than they do harm. Through strategic use of funds, Starboard will not only “offset” their use of plastic, but also help better integrate plastics into the circular economy and mitigate their own impact on the planet.

Starboard hopes to set an example not only for the watersports industry, but for all participants in the plastic economy. It is imperative that all stakeholders in the plastic economy recognize the unpaid costs of plastics; a toll that is taken on our environment and our health. Starboard and Ocean Recovery Alliance encourage others to not only be a participant in the PDP to benchmark their plastic use, but to also price it via the POP as they acknowledge their role as a business stakeholder in the communities they serve, and join in Starboard’s leadership to recognize the value of this externality while contributing accordingly.

About Starboard
Based in Bangkok, Thailand, Starboard Co. has created some of the world’s best windsurf and stand up paddle boards since 1994, and is the top choice of champions and beginners around the globe. Dedicated to innovation and quality, Starboard is an advocate of all things wind and water, leading in the watersports industry, while pushing the limits of ocean athletic possibilities. Starboard’s vision is to change how businesses and the world see plastic, and reshape the plastic economy into a safer and greener system, so watersport enthusiasts can paddle clean waters and sail plastic-free seas. See more at http://www.star-board.blue.

About the Plastic Disclosure Project
The Plastic Disclosure Project (PDP) is a global program which was launched at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), and has since been endorsed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Bank. The program is a methodology for calculating a baseline use of plastic and/or waste generation, similar to that of carbon or water reporting, allowing companies to better manage their plastic resources, with a reduced waste impact. The PDP is an important program to undertake in the quest to bring plastic into a much greater circular economy system. The program is operated and founded by Ocean Recovery Alliance.

Multi-billion dollar plastics recycling potential wasted – Global expert calls for action

Packaging Lost?

Wasted Resources?

A 2016 World Economic Forum report shows that plastic recovered and reused (about 14%) represents 36% of the original value, meaning that plastics in their “afterlife” could be worth US$93bn-140bn.”

— Trish Hyde, Director, Plasticity Sydney

SYDNEY, NSW, AUSTRALIA, October 27, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Ahead of a visit to Australia for the Plasticity Sydney event, Mr. Douglas Woodring, international sustainability economist and plastic circular economies expert, says both Australia and America’s plastic recycling records are behind global standards, and lag most OECD countries on diversion from landfill. In the Australian context, he believes that this creates an opportunity for Australia to dominate the new $100Bn global plastic circular economy in Asia Pacific, if it acts now. In the case of the U.S., its role as a technology leader and solutions provider to the world is also significant, especially if China’s blockade of waste imports finally drives the domestic industry needed to scale the opportunities to process the 91% of plastic that is not recycled today on US soil. The value of plastic packaging alone, which makes its way to landfills in the U.S., is over US$8bn, according to As You Sow.

In Australia’s case, only 15% of plastics thrown away are recovered, and only half of that is reused in Australia (with the remainder mainly being previously exported to China). Australia is not alone in the struggle to effectively recover plastics, as most countries face similar issues. Mr. Woodring, however, believes that Australia is uniquely positioned to play a leadership role in the region, and to exploit business opportunities locally and elsewhere globally. Australia already has successful innovators in this area and is seeing a growing interest in impact investment, governments actively supporting initiatives and Australian’s strongly committed to recycling. What remains is for Australia to capitalize on the new market opportunity before it is too late, and the same could be said for the U.S. and their potential engagement in this global challenge of resource recovery from plastic waste.

A 2016 report from the World Economic Forum shows that the plastic recovered and reused (about 14%) represents 36% of the original value. If end-markets are established to create demand for plastics in their “afterlife,” the forum set a theoretical EU and North American value of US$93bn-140bn. On very rough GDP calculations, Australia should be seeking an industry in excess of $3.6Bn AUD, and that is based just on the value of the recovery of resources in-country. If you compound that with technology, machinery and know how which can be transferred to much of Asia, the value will be considerably larger.

Mr Woodring and other leading experts in plastic sustainability, innovation, capital markets and market opportunities will be attending the global forum called Plasticity on Tuesday 31 October in Sydney.

Plasticity Sydney Forum Details:
Date: Tuesday 31 October 2017
